Deep Blue Retreat

- WELCOME -

Deep Blue Retreat is an adult-only wellness retreat based in the quiet hills of Croatia. Entwined are the philosophies of Yoga, the natural and ancient spirit of a cultural crossroad with the interest of modern well-being & health.

Yoga Retreat

WELLBEING

Deep Blue Retreat's dedicated twice daily Yoga Asana practice will enrich the body, improving overall strength, develop inward discipline & focus, and create a sense of deep inner calmness.

Practices in meditation and breath work are entwined to calm the nervous system and reinvigorate one’s energy.

Yoga Retreat

PHILOSOPHY

Deep Blue retreat is an opportunity to dive inward. Taking time to step back from the busyness and external demands of everyday life, a space to witness yourself & what is & is not serving you.

We explore tools for building habits to live a more self-serving life, while nourishing ourselves with time, time for movement, quietness, simplicity, and relaxation.

WELLBEING

STAY

Deep Blue Retreat is a 6-night retreat, giving your body, mind and soul the chance to  learn, re-align, play, enjoy, laugh and relax.

Natural, nutritional food is served daily, with many of the fresh produce grown in the Organic gardens.

Immerse yourself in learnings on meditation, pranayama, Yoga Nidra and yoga Asana.

YOGA

Just after sunrise we begin our outdoor Yoga session, with uninterrupted views of the horizon. The Hatha based practice is Alignment focused, asking students to observe the strengths & compensations of their body, witness the tyranny of the mind, and persist with the challenges that come with being present within our physical, mental and emotional selves.

As the sun begins to cool in the late afternoon, we bring our afternoon practice inside. Following Iyengar’s key teachings, there are yoga blocks, straps & blankets for everyone to assist in finding the best alignment possible for their bodies, at that moment.

About your Teacher, Blue

I went to my first yoga class while studying for my MSc in London. My deepest studies have followed Patanjali’s Classical Yoga philosophies and Iyengar’s Hatha teachings. I teach an alignment-focused practice, bringing the attention of our busy minds to the fine tunings of our internal selves, both the physical and mental.

In addition to yoga, I have enjoyed 15 years coaching in Strength & Conditioning, specialising in endurance training since 20.19. When I am not on the mat I can be found in the mountains, trail running, hiking or snowboarding.

About your Teacher, Cecilia

I first stepped on a yoga mat in 2011 and have been practising yoga since then.

Influenced by my studies and practice, I teach energetic and fun movement practice with a grounding element of alignment. I guide students to pay attention to their alignment and actions throughout the asana practice. This is what I have discovered in yoga and it helps me to take good care of my emotions and well being.

In addition to yoga, you can find me with my drawing board, designing buildings or at construction sites talking to contractors as an architect. I also play violin and enjoy doing life drawing classes.

  • Tell me more about the Yoga Asana
Yoga Asana is the movement practice of yoga. We will come together on our yoga mats to focus on body alignment, to contain our focus and attention inward. The yoga style is Hatha yoga, following Iyengar’s classical yoga teachings. So what can you expect? Deep Blue Retreat will see you immerse yourself internally as you observe the strengths & compensations of the body, witness the tyranny of your mind and the challenges that come with becoming present within our physical, mental and emotional selves. The morning practice will be 90 minutes, including & ending with 10 minutes of Shavasana. The afternoon practice will be 120 minutes, including up to 15 minutes of Shavasana. We will use yoga blocks, straps & blankets to aid us towards correct skeletal alignment. Can I keep up? The practice is a practice, we can all do it, and must do it at our own level of competency. From the outside, we will all look differently in each asana, but truly it is the experience on the inside that is the essence of Yoga. You will see your own practice deepen throughout the week but all of us will be stepping on to the mat each practice with our own challenges; we are there to deepen our concentration inward, by using the body to access the mind. In the words of the teacher's teacher, ‘do the best you can, any amount’.
